Make Sure to Choose the Right Roof Repair Contractors

Whether you do a search for roof repair contractors or ask your neighbors for a referral, chances are you’ll see that there are countless options. Although roofing contractors in Tampa must be licensed, that doesn’t mean they’re all the same. Because your roof must be in good condition to protect your family and belongings, choosing the wrong one can have far reaching consequences. So, just how do you choose the right roof repair contractors? Here are a few steps to take.

1. Ask Around and Then Check Them Out

As you ask your friends who they like as a roofing contractor, see if the same name comes up time and time again. If so, they may be a good company to look into. Ask in person and on your HOA page or even on NextDoor.

Once you have a half dozen or so names, look them up online. See if they have any Google reviews and read the reviews. Check out the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and see if they’re accredited and rated. Go to their website, do they state that they offer roof repair on their site? Do they work on the roofing material that you have on your roof?

2. Schedule an Appointment & Interview Them

This is a good opportunity for you to interview two or three of them and find out more about their company. You may be surprised that one or more of the roof repair contractors you call for an estimate don’t even show up. You’ll be able to get a good impression of the company while they inspect your roof and discuss their findings.

3. Look Over the Estimate

If you don’t get a written estimate, you probably shouldn’t hire them. Sometimes a roofing company will give you a verbal estimate and follow up in writing later. That’s okay too. It just helps ensure everyone is on the same page as far as job expectations and cost. It protects you from paying more than you were originally quoted and it protects them from doing more than they proposed. If you don’t see a workmanship guarantee or some other indication of how long they’ll warrant the repair, ask. This should be included in the estimate or online for you to print out.

4. Choose the Best Roofing Company

The best roofing company for you may not be the same as for your neighbor. For example, if you have tile roofing and one of the roofing companies you’ve contacted for roof repair doesn’t work with tile much, they’re probably not the best choice for you even if they did a great job on your neighbor’s asphalt shingles.

2-weeks & still no estimate, Doug Ford called 2 days ago ,leaves message ,the office people gave wrong phone # Has trouble finding G.C. for tear off & then they will put new roof on.Never dealt with or seen roofing company that doesn't do all work!Poor excuses and lame business practices,you could have come by and explained in person!Will never use or recommend to anyone! I don't call you,you respond by calling back until you reach me or you stop by if it was really true that your office girl gave you the wrong phone #,those excuses you give,when you finally gave,are "LAME" & "CHILDISH" You never even made an effort to see if you could do any repairs in the first place,again "LAME" You really do need to UP your business ethics and be more honest! You should have just came out and said, "You did not want to do the work or could not do the work" in the first place instead of making me wait 2 1/2 weeks (with a leaking roof)to finally get a response from you! SHAME ON YOU !

Suncoast was prompt and got the job done. I searched multiple companies to fix my chimney cap. Unfortunately for me, not easy to find someone who can fabricate and install. Doug and Jay came out the next day to estimate. Each call and/or email was responded to same day. When’s the last time you had a roofing company with clear and professional communication! Had a leak in 15yr old shingle roof on a 100yr old house. Prompt replies, great pricing, and expert repair job. No upselling and very informative on roof status. Will definitely return to them when we need a new roof, which will probably be soon. Followup. After the initial repair, it took a while to rain and when it did there was a leak in the same place. Suncoast came, re-examined, and did additional work to get it water-tight. This took 2 more times but they finally got it done. All at no additional charge! Really responsible service. I stay by my claim that when I need a new roof, Suncoast is the company to go with.

We were preparing to sell our home and needed a new roof; our realtor recommended Suncoast Roofing and we found some other roofers on our own. No comparison- Suncoast had a very competitive price, in fact they came in just a bit under their initial assessment. Our roof was in really good condition so we weren't hit with any surprises; Doug did explain to us not only the best case scenario, but what the associated costs could be with a worst case scenario. That's good to know in terms of budgeting. The work was done fast, the crew was courteous and neat, and the price was more than fair. Suncoast pulled all the permits and followed up with a final inspection with the city. Would I use them again- absolutely. Now if we could only get them to come up to Central Florida to put a roof on our new property. You know Doug, it's not too late to change your mind about that Orlando job... =)

When I received an email from my Insurance Company, that I had some shingles that needed repair on my rental property asap, or they would cancel my insurance, I immediately started doing some research on the best company to do the job. Jay Henderson with Suncoast Roofing Solutions is the guy to call! Not only did he return my call right away, but he made himself readily available for my emergency problem. Although I received calls from other companies, I really liked that Jay assessed my problem right away, didn't try to sell me on anything else, and promised that the issue could be completed earlier than the time frame I gave him. He was very respectful of my tenants and even fixed a few other minor issues that he saw. He was great with his communication, contacting me through phone calls, text, and email. A few days later, I received the invoice and told to remit payment at my earliest convenience. I will definitely use them again, should I need any more repairs.
