Can Any Roofer Repair My Roof?
Yes, but you shouldn’t hire just any roofer. Some roofers specialize in roof replacement while others have both a roof repair and roof replacement division. Technically, any licensed roofer can repair your roof, but you want one who understands the roofing material on your roof and has training and experience in proper roof repair techniques.
I Have a Roof Leak but the Roofer Said it’s Really My Flashing, What Does That Mean?
Flashing is an important part of your roofing system and when it has an issue we classify it as a roof leak. Your roofer may not need to replace any shingles, but rather replace your flashing or simply reseal it depending on what’s wrong. Sometimes, however, the shingles around the flashing do need replacing to preserve the integrity of the roof.
My Insurance Company Says It’s Not Hail Damage but My Roofer Does, What Do I Do?
You should ask your adjustor and roofer to meet together to discuss their differing opinions. Some roofers have extensive training in identifying storm damage, while others do not. Some less than ethical roofers will intentionally damage roofing to look like hail damage and an experienced adjustor can spot that. If there’s still no resolution and you know there was a storm, get the opinion of another roofing company.
The Roof Repair Estimate Was Out of My Budget, Can I Put Off the Work?
One of the worst decisions you can make is putting off a roof repair. Once water starts to penetrate your roof, the damage only becomes more extensive which equates to expensive. If you put it off, you could end up needing not only roof repair but to replace insulation and drywall which costs significantly more. Even if you have to utilize your HELOC or credit card, doing the repair as soon as you discover the need is always the right choice.
