Reports of inclement weather in South and Central Florida—including a tornado touching down near Boca Raton—have been hitting the major news networks, and the Tampa Bay Area has been in for its fair share of headlines (and heavy rains). Below is the weather report from The Tampa Tribune:
Tampa area residents are being met by a thunderous, intense lightning show this morning as a line of storms passes through the region.
Numerous showers and scattered thunderstorms are likely to continue throughout the day, according to the National Weather Service.
The forecast calls for a 60 percent chance of rain as an onshore flow from the Gulf of Mexico continues to push clouds across the Florida peninsula.
Highs will be near 90 and lows in the mid-70s.
Rain chances will remain high Saturday but lessen by Sunday night, the weather service said.
The combination of heavy rain and high winds over the past few weeks can mean bad news for your roof. Now would be as good a time as any to check your attic for leaks. Water seeping into your home can mean more than just wind-blown rain, so if you spot any telltale signs of water intrusion, your best move would be to call a trusted local roofing contractor to have a look at it as soon as possible.
